Russia 2008

These photos were taken on a month-long trip to Russia in May-June 2008.

Gallery 17: Tomsk

Tomsk is home to the most extensive complex of traditional Siberian architecture,
of wooden construction and often featuring intricate filigree work around windows, doors, and awnings.
Here, I present a gallery of the edifices, some now rather dilapidated, that we stumbled across
in our wanderings.

In Siberia, it's not just some of the old men who lean drunkenly. This old house,
like others, was slowly keeling over into the permafrost. Griselda provides the
perpendicular angle for comparison.
